Welcome to this library research guide for BIOL 455! This guide will introduce you to useful resources and tips for doing research in this class.
Use the tabs across the top of the page to navigate the guide.
Most library resources can be accessed from on or off campus by simply using the Libraries website. Search the library catalog for books, journals, articles, videos, and more from the search box on the library homepage. Choose the record(s) that relate to your research. For journals, journal articles, and ebooks, use the links within the record to access the item.
While you’re at Williams, you do not need to pay for access to library resources. When materials are not available through the Williams Libraries, use Interlibrary Loan (ILL) to get everything you need. You will need to log into ILL using your unix credentials. If you ever have problems getting access to something you need, please ask a librarian for help - it’s what we do!
The Libraries subscribe to many expensive journals, such as those published by Elsevier. Since some journals and databases charge us per download, please download and save the PDFs of articles you intend to use in your papers for possible reuse or sharing. You can store these documents in Google Drive or email a PDF of the article rather than having your classmate download it again.
