RLSP 210: Graphic Novels, Spain, and Economic Crisis: Researching Comics

How to conduct research about comics?

To conduct research about comics you need to combine search strategies:

  1. Start in a  large multidisciplinary search tool such as the library catalog
  2. Refine and complement your initial searches with specialized databases
  3. Use the references you already have to find more sources (tracing references)

Using the Library Catalog

Why use it?

The library catalog is a discovery service that searches for books and articles. It is a good place to start a search because:

  • it is multidisciplinary
  • it is a large database
  • lots of the content is available full-text online
