Institutional Review Board

An Instituitional Review Board (IRB review is a common academic practice. Comprised of a committee of people, the IRB's purpose is to oversee and monitor the ethics of your project and ensure that no physical or emotional harm can be done to living subjects. An IRB application is a formal way of laying out how you are going to perform your fieldwork, what information you are going to collect, and how you are going to store information to protect your subjects.
