Any of the following search strategies can help you identify library materials in German language.
Search strategy #1
This will find library materials in any format (books, films, articles, etc.) that are either entirely in German or contain sections in German.
- Search for any topic in the catalog search bar
- On the result page, in the Tweak My Results section, go to the Language filter and select German
Search strategy #2
This will find primarily books and films in the Williams College library (no articles)
- Change the Search In pull-down menu to Items at Williams
- Search for any topic in the catalog search bar
- On the result page, in the Tweak My Results section, go to the Language filter and select German
Search strategy #3
This will find only print books (be aware that by limiting to print books you are excluding nearly half of the library collection that is in e-book)
- Change the Search In pull-down menu to Items at Williams
- Search for any topic in the catalog search bar
- On the result page, in the Tweak My Results section
- go to the Language filter and select German
- select Material Type = Book
- go to Show Only, and select Held by the Library
Search strategy #4
This will find materials about German language
- Go to the Advanced Search Mode
- Select Items at Williams (button across the top of the search screen)
- Change the pull-down menu Any Field to Subject
- Search for the phrase German Language
- Limit your results to Language = German
Search strategy #5
This will find German literature
- Go to the Advanced Search Mode
- Select Items at Williams (button across the top of the search screen)
- Change the pull-down menu Any Field to Subject
- Search for the phrase German Literature
- Limit your results to Language = German
Search strategy #6
- Search by took titles, or by authors and limit your search results to Language = German
