Development Economics: Materials Not in the Library

What is Interlibrary Loan?

When you are looking for articles or books that we do not have at Williams, you can use the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) to place your request.  ILL is a service that connects libraries to each other and enables us to borrow/lend to each other for free.

  • Articles: the library with the journal will make a scan of the article. You will get an email when the article is available.
  • Books: will be shipped to the library. You will get an email when the book is available for pick-up.  Please keep in mind that shipping a book takes time - plan for at least two weeks. If you only need one or two chapters, consider requesting scans of the chapters instead of the entire book (it is faster)

To request materials:

  • Look for the link "Borrow from another library" in the library catalog and the library databases
  • Go directly to the ILL service: https://library.williams.edu/illiad and fill out the request form.
