Metacognition and the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy: Reading

In preparation for this workshop, please:

  1. Read the short article "Promoting Student Metacognition,"  by Kimberly D. Tanner (from CBE-Life Sciences Education, 2017). While reading, reflect on metacognition’s relevance to information literacy and to your teaching practice. Though the article is written for science educators, the discussion of metacognition is equally relevant to librarians.
  2. Review the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education and consider metacognition’s relevance to the document’s conceptualization of information literacy and information literacy education.

Thank you!
