Political Science 323: Finding Scholarly Articles

Use the databases below to find articles on a topic.

The Find Text Button

Many of our databases have this button, which searches for the full-text of the article in our collections. If we don't have it electronically, look for the "Request article scan" link in the "Get It" section.

• Start your search by doing keyword searches. Look at the subject headings of relevant records to determine the terminology used in the database for your topic. Use those subject headings to find additional items.
• Use * to get multiple endings of a word. Example: immigra* to get immigration, immigrant, immigrants.
• If you do not have reading skills in other languages, choose English in the Language limit.
• Use the Historical Period limit to narrow your search results to only materials relevant to the historical time period you are researching.
• Search America: History and Life and Historical Abstracts together by clicking the "Choose Databases" link at the top of the search screen. Note: subject heading searches may not work in combined database searches.
