PSYC 201: Experimentation and Statistics: Home

Welcome!

Welcome to the PSYC 201 libguide! In this class, you are concerned with the logic and methodology of collecting scientific data, but all good primary research actively engages with a scholarly conversation. Sound experimental design and analysis necessarily draws from previous scientific literature and other types of information sources, in order to support the methodological choices and situate results in the context of the field. Here you will find tips and resources for conducting research that will help lend credibility and insight to your psychology studies.

And as always, don't be afraid to reach out to your librarian if you need help or have any questions!

What is the Scholarly Conversation?

When we think of who is engaged in "scholarly conversations" we might think of researchers conducting primary research, publishing this research, or having conversations with other researchers at conferences. But believe it or not, you are also part of the scholarly conversation! When you cite an article in your paper, or conduct a study based on previous research, you are also participating in this exchange of knowledge and ideas.
