Hands-on Practice!

Follow the instructions below in our forward citation searching activity. If you are confused, take a gander at the Citation Searching tab of this libguide, or ask your librarian!

Search Platforms to use:

Instructions

  1. Break up into small groups or partners.
  2. Choose a combination of keywords, subject headings, and classification terms connected to the Epley, 2008 article in Psychological Science.
  3. Using these chosen terms, find an article in Web of Science related to anthropomorphism or a similar subject.
  4. User filters to refine your results until you find something interesting that grabs you.
  5. Check to see if you have full text access to this article, and if not, practice requesting it through interlibrary loan
  6. How many sources cite your chosen article in Web of Science?
  7. Next, find this same article in Google Scholar and explore papers citing this work. How many sources cite this article here? 
  8. Log your findings in the google poll linked to the right!
