CHEM 348: Polymer Chemistry: Interlibrary Loan

Don't Pay for ANYTHING!

You may encounter resources in the library catalog or databases that are not available in their full text version. In this case, you are encouraged to request them via our interlibrary loan service. Electronic document delivery of journal articles and other e-resources can take as little as just a few hours after request to be delivered into your ILL account. Physical resources like books can take a little longer, up to a few weeks, so factor this time in as you decide what to request.

Finding Full Text

  • Throughout SciFinder, you will see "Full Text" buttons.
  • Navigate to the "Check for Full Text" option from the dropdown menu.
  • You will be brought to a page in the Williams College Library catalog
  • You may see numerous options for accessing the article online, by PDF, or through a publisher's website
  • However, you may still not have access to this item

  • In this case, first make sure you are signed in
  • Hit "Request Article Scan" to initial an interlibrary loan request.
  • You will be taken to our interlibrary loan portal with a pre-populated request form
  • Make sure all the information is correct and up-to-date on the item you are requesting (sometimes it is inputted incorrectly!)
  • Hit SUBMIT!
  • Your article will be delivered into your ILL account

DOI Full Text

The DOI option will you bring you to the article on the publisher's website.

You may or may not have access this way. It's always best to check in the library catalog before you request an ILL.

Article not in catalog

Not every reference source in SciFinder will be in our catalog. If this is the case, use the SciFinder DOI link to go to the publisher's website and use the information you find to manually fill out an article request form with the appropriate link on the left-hand side of the page of your ILL account.
