RLFR 218: Translating French: Introduction

Professor: Kathryn Levine

Purpose of this guide

In FRE 218, you are diving into the field of Translation Studies, learning about translation theory and methodologies. In this guide (companion to the library session from April 12, 2023) I offer resources to think about the broader context of the translation, publishing and library acquisition process.

This guide addresses the following questions:

  • How do libraries acquire translated materials?
  • How are translations integrated into library collections?
  • How can you find translated works in libraries?
  • What library resources are available to help you contextualize your translation work?
