At the beginning of any big research project, it is helpful to start with mining background information, like Wikipedia articles, review articles, and even books on your topic. Not only will you gain a grasp on the fundamentals, but these sources will provide citations, authors, and ideas for keywords to search later.
TIP: One way to find review articles, is to throw in "review" as a keyword in the database of search engine you are using. Some databases also will have a filter for review articles.
If we don't own a book, or if our copy is checked out, you can borrow a copy from another library. Just search for the book in Williams WorldCat, and then choose "Request Item" to borrow it.
